Antidepressant
  Drug Class: Antidepressant
Drug Names: SSRI (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Effexor, Luvox, Celexa)
Current Status: Poorly documented clinical evidence and/or case studies
  Severity Index: Moderate

Both SSRIs and St. John’s Wort, the primary Natural Reuptake Inhibitor formulated into Clarocet, may cause drowsiness or sedation. The risk of experiencing this type of interaction may be more severe when an SSRI is concomitantly used with St. John’s Wort. In addition, two (2) case studies have been recorded regarding the possibility of Serotonin Syndrome when high-doses of St. John’s Wort and a prescription SSRI were combined. If a patient is concurrently taking an SSRI drug and Clarocet, it is recommended that they are closely monitored for any significant changes in the way they feel.
